Recent News: Wow, it's been a while since I updated this, like almost a year! My apologies - In the words of Inigo Montoya, To Sum Up: Scotland was great! The fall was a little slow, called some dances, sang a little. Celebrated the new year. Moved to Richmond. Became an artist-in-residence at a school in Winston-Salem. Called more dances. Sang with Cheryse McLeod on a Black History recital. Sang with Cathy Ann MacPhee and Zan McLeod. Arranged a benefit concert for the Black Banjo Then and Now Gathering in April. Played the banjo. Whew! Was a busy spring (2004)- Susannah went great (check out the Reviews page for my review!) and sang on a couple of friends recitals, among other things (check out the Engagement page for more details). Will be travelling quite a bit this summer (Chicago, Seattle, DC, and Scotland) but will be back in town August 18. I can always be reached by e-mail, though! Won first place in the Greensboro Music Teachers Association Young Artist Competition. I've just been cast as "Susannah" in the opera Susannah by Carlisle Floyd for UNC-G Opera Theater. Should be fun! This really isn't related to opera, but I took First Place in the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games Fiddle Competition, in the Novice Division. It was my first fiddle competition, so as you can imagine I'm quite thrilled. This is not exactly related to opera, but I've finished my first full length demo cd, dubbed "Many Voices". It contains tracks from the country, folk, gospel, celtic, and blues traditions. I will put up a website for it soon. I've been cast in the role of "Beth" in the opera Little Women by Mark Adamo for UNC-G Opera Theater. This means that I will sing an aria and die. Again. Of all the heroines I've played so far, only one has lived to tell the tale. This will be a North Carolina debut of this exciting work. |
